Rui and I never had a fight, and seldom a difference of opinion, (unless it was about watching video versus going to play outside!) Our bond was sensitive, close, thoughtful, loving, and expressive.
These are photographs of us, home, as we were.
This photograph, below, was taken right after Rui had been taken on his first trip, and returned home. I was so extremely happy to be holding him again.
Swinging in Austin, Texas during a visit with Rui’s relatives, our family, the Pragers.
Deep down, Rui knows how much I love him and how much he loves me. He was robbed of an essential element of who he is, his strongest bonds, by Japanese kidnappers. What we have lost can’t be regained. We have so much healing to do. But we’ve got to begin in order to begin! Bring Rui home, and let us get on with our life’s task!
